Overview

As a Management Accountant, you will be at the heart of our finance team, working closely with the Finance Director and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, providing insightful analysis, and supporting decision-making processes. Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management information, including in-depth profit and loss and balance sheet reviews, supported by thorough analysis and reconciliations.

  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all journals, accruals, and prepayments are processed accurately and within agreed timescales.

  • Maintain control of balance sheet accounts, carrying out regular reviews and resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracy and integrity.

  • Review financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and previous periods, identifying key variances, trends, and underlying drivers.

  • Provide clear and actionable financial insight to budget holders and non-finance stakeholders to support effective decision-making and cost control.

  • Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure financial data is consistent, reliable, and aligned across the organisation.

  • Assist with audit requirements, preparing supporting documentation and responding to both internal and external audit queries.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting, enhancing efficiency and data quality.

Qualifications

  • Part or fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Strong organisational skills with experience in administration and planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Proficiency in IT and relevant financial software.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry.
