Finance and Operations Officer
Overview
We are recruiting a Finance and Operations Officer to join a school-based finance team on a temporary basis. This is an immediate start opportunity for approximately 6 weeks, with potential to extend or become longer-term for the right candidate. The role offers flexible working patterns, with the option to work 2 full days or spread hours across shorter sessions.
Details:
- Temporary contract (initially 6 weeks, scope to extend)
- 2 days per week (flexible pattern available, e.g., 5 short mornings or 2 full days)
- York based, with on-site parking
- Immediate start
- £19.81 - £22.21 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Manage school lettings, including raising invoices, assessing VAT status, and applying VAT exemptions.
- Conduct monthly reviews of forecasting reports and investigate variances.
- Prepare and distribute monthly departmental/budget holder reports, responding to queries.
- Prepare monthly catering summaries, including staffing costs and FSM meals.
- Code and post catering recharges, supplier invoices, journal entries, and petty cash reconciliations.
- Record school funds transactions and provide accurate summary reporting.
- Monitor key non-staff contracts and commitments.
- Allocate new codes for items on the cashless payment system.
Experience Required:
- Previous experience in finance administration, including budgets and forecasting.
- Knowledge of lettings and VAT processes.
- Experience within the education sector is a distinct advantage.
- Strong IT and Excel skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
