Finance Manager
We are working with a leading contract manufacturing company based in Thirsk, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their growing team. Supporting a diverse range of sectors including food, agriculture, and chemicals, we are committed to modernising our finance systems and strengthening our finance function to support future growth.
This is a pivotal role within their organisation, offering the opportunity to contribute to operational improvements, deliver accurate financial reporting, and shape the future of our finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance and managing a team of four, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, mentor team members, and drive the development of robust, scalable systems.

Responsibilities
As a Finance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering timely and accurate management and statutory financial reporting.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance team, including supervising a trainee accountant and finance assistants.
- Ensuring robust financial processes and strong internal controls are in place.
- Acting as a bridge between the finance function and the wider business, translating financial data into actionable insights.
- Supporting other departments in understanding cost drivers, controlling budgets, and making informed decisions.
- Building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, HMRC, suppliers, and payroll providers.
- Supporting the audit process and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
- Proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and practical solutions aligned with the company’s goals.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognised UK accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, systems, and processes.
- Proven experience as a people manager with excellent interpersonal and IT skills, particularly in finance systems and spreadsheets.
- A track record of developing and implementing effective workflow/resource planning and programme management.
