Payroll Officer
Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Payroll Officer to join their team. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of monthly payroll processes and support key compliance activities. The role is offered as a 3-month fixed-term contract with hybrid working and an immediate start available.
Details:
- £33,000 (pro rata)
- Full-time
- 3-month fixed-term contract
- Hybrid working – York-based office and home working
- Immediate start available
Responsibilities:
- Process monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Resolve discrepancies and ensure all payments comply with HMRC and internal policies
- Submit RTI and statutory tax returns
- Support year-end tasks, including P11D reporting and statutory returns
- Accurately process staff expenses and mileage claims in line with current legislation
- Assist with cost of living pay awards and salary increments
- Maintain employee records in compliance with data protection requirements
- Liaise with managers and internal teams to ensure accurate payroll data
- Provide payroll data and statistics as required for reporting
Qualifications & Requirements:
- End-to-end payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC procedures
- Experience processing staff benefits and producing P11Ds
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- High attention to detail and strong time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, customer-focused approach
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy
- CIPP qualification (desirable)
