Transport Planner

 

Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Transport Planner to join their busy and collaborative supply chain team. This is a great opportunity for someone with logistics or transport planning experience to take ownership of a fast-paced and varied role. The position is initially temporary and ongoing, with an immediate start available.

 

Details:

  • £13.10 per hour + 10% shift premium (total hourly rate: £14.41)
  • Full-time – 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Includes 13 weekend/bank holiday shifts per year
  • Temporary ongoing
  • York – office based with some home working possible

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate the movement of goods using in-house and third-party fleets
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible transport solutions
  • Liaise with customer services, factories, and distribution centres
  • Monitor service levels and manage cost efficiency
  • Use planning tools and data to reduce empty running and optimise routes
  • Contribute to projects that improve safety, sustainability, and cost performance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal quality standards

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous experience in transport planning or logistics coordination would be an advantage
  • Strong administration and customer service experience 
  • Strong UK geographical knowledge
  • Highly organised with strong time management skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with internal teams and third-party hauliers
  • Confident using systems and Microsoft Office
