Finance Officer – Part-Time Role

We are excited to be partnering with our client to recruit a talented Finance Officer for a part-time role. In this role, you will have responsibility for managing and raising invoices, assessing VAT status, and applying VAT exemptions, alongside a variety of essential finance duties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly reviews of forecasting reports, investigate variances, and liaise with the Director of Finance and Operations as required.

• Prepare and distribute monthly department/budget holder reports, responding to any budget queries.

• Compile the monthly catering summary, including staffing costs and FSM meals.

• Code and post catering recharges internally.

• Maintain a funds transaction spreadsheet and provide summaries by transactional analysis codes.

• Reconcile and post school petty cash on the finance system, including posting correction and journal entries.

• Code supplier invoices accurately, ensuring consistency with budgeting software.

• Monitor key non-staff commitments and contracts.

• Allocate new codes for payment items on the cashless payment system.

• Proven experience in a relevant finance or accounting role.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in relevant tools, technologies, or finance software.

Part time/Full time Accounts Manager. 28k per year for full time.

Initially office based in York until probation after 6 month period. Following this there is the opportunity to work from home.

We are a leading sustainable design practice working alongside some of the UK’s top 20 house builders and contractors. Based in York, we work with clients throughout England, Scotland and Wales. We have an excellent reputation within our industry and receive repeat business on a regular basis from our extensive client base.

Office hours are 8.45-5. For the correct candidate we will offer flexible working hours. In normal times our office environment is busy, professional but relatively informal.

The successful candidate will be a team player with an exceptional ability to multi-task and manage a busy and time critical schedule of work, including processing invoices, wages and receipts

Good attention to detail is essential as the role requires a high degree of accuracy and organizational skills dealing with figures. As a point of contact for many of our clients it is essential that you portray yourself as professional and friendly over the phone and via e-mail. We enjoy close partnerships with all of our clients, built on trust, a track record of delivery and friendship.
