Responsibilities

1. Support monthly accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.

2. Assist with month-end tasks such as accruals, prepayments, and stock updates.

3. Help prepare management reports and update KPIs.

4. Maintain accurate records of debtors, creditors, cash, and fixed assets.

5. Process invoices, payments, and expense claims.

6. Assist with VAT returns, payroll journals, and basic intercompany entries.

7. Support stock valuation and maintain financial data in systems (e.g., Xero, Unleashed).

8. Perform general data entry, filing, and record keeping.

9. Respond to routine finance queries from internal teams.

10. Support basic cost and margin analysis for new products.

Qualifications

• AAT part-qualified  (ongoing study support can be provided)
• Strong experience within a fast-paced consumer goods business.
• Sound understanding of management accounts, reconciliations, and margin analysis
• Excellent Excel skills and strong system literacy (Xero, Unleashed, or ERP)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal business with tight deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

Finance Officer

This person will have responsibility for the management of the school’s lettings including raising invoices and assessment of VAT status and applications of VAT exemptions.

Responsibilities

• Conducting monthly reviews of forecasting reports, investigating variances and liaise with the Director of Finance and Operations and others where required. 
• Preparation and distribution of monthly department/budget holder reports, responding to any department budget queries.
• Preparation of the monthly catering summary, including staffing costs and FSM meals.
• To code and post catering recharges internally.
• Recording funds transactions spreadsheet and providing a summary by transactional analysis codes. 
• Reconciliation and posting school petty cash on the finance software, alongside posting correction and journal entries.
• Coding of supplier invoices ensuring codes used are consistent with budgeting software.
• Monitoring key non-staff related commitments/contracts.
• Allocation of new codes relating to the payment items on the cashless payment system.

Initially office based in York until probation after 6 month period. Following this there is the opportunity to work from home.

Responsibilities

• Daily reconciliation of bank account(s), including posting to Sage for any payments/ receipts
• Responsibility for the operation of the Purchase Ledger Reconciliation
• Responsibility for the operation of the Sales Ledger – including the weekly Debtor reviews
• Daily submission of Direct Debits
• Weekly Payment collections – TTA / ACAS / Travel Ledger / Direct Debit
• Administering supplier payments
• Weekly Refund Run

• Supporting the team with reconciliations and ad hoc tasks that will assist with the preparation of management accounts
• Liaising with the operations department on any queries that may arise
• Provide reports to assist with the audit of data held

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot tables
• Experience of dealing with large volumes of data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for time management, accuracy and organisation.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• A self-motivated team player with the ability to work on your own initiative and make informed decisions – we’d love it if you’re a keen problem solver, creative thinker or can demonstrate commercial acumen.
• A Level Maths / Accountancy / working towards AAT / or relevant experience in a similar role would be beneficial
